Michael Badnarik decided to run for President in February of 2003 at the urging of friends, as well as students of his popular "Introduction to the Constitution" class. To secure the Libertarian Party nomination, he traveled over 25,000 miles campaigning across the U.S. in the 15 months leading up to the Partys National Convention in Atlanta. Although Michael was clearly the underdog, he won the nomination after three close ballots.

Michael continued his underdog status in the national campaign. Despite appearing on the ballot in 48 states, more than Ralph Nader, as his candidacy was blacked out by the mainstream media. Frustrated by the bipartisan control of the electoral process, he tried to serve process papers on Commission on Presidential Debates officials in a lawsuit protesting the exclusion of significant third party candidates from the debates. Badnarik and David Cobb, the Green Party nominee, were arrested and handcuffed attempting to peacefully cross the police line surrounding the St. Louis debate. Despite this unprecedented challenge to the legitimacy of the debates, the media virtually censored this story.

While on the campaign trail, Michael found time to write a book about the Constitution entitled Good To Be King The Foundations of Freedom. U.S. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), known for his integrity and independent views, wrote the forward. Good To Be King is only available in hardcover, and for the time being, only on this website.

Badnarik first began studying the Constitution in 1983, while managing the Braidwood Nuclear Simulator project. In his next assignment, he earned a Secret Security clearance at the Northrop facility charged with developing the Stealth Bomber. His next challenge was training hundreds of employees to use state-of-the-art computer systems at PG&Es Diablo Canyon nuclear plant. His natural talent for speaking and teaching led him to develop his Constitution class.

Michael Badnarik began studying the Constitution and Bill of Rights twenty-five years ago, which led him to the disturbing conclusion that MOST of what our federal, state, and local governments do is unconstitutional. He finds this state of affairs unconscionable and totally unacceptable. Since then he has done everything within his sphere of influence to restore our Constitutional Republic. This quest has led him to run for Texas State Representative in 2000 and 2002; to successfully win the Libertarian nomination for President of the United States in 2004: and to campaign for US Congressional Representative from Texas in 2006.

Instead of pursuing political change as a candidate, Michael has now dedicated his life to "Lighting the fires of Liberty, one heart at a time!" by presenting a highly acclaimed class on the Constitution and Bill of Rights anywhere he can accumulate a sufficient level of interest. Having participated in over 400 interviews during his presidential campaign alone, he now intends to conduct interviews from the other side of the microphone. The purpose of this program is to communicate one-on-one with Americans nationwide, and thereby rekindle in them, the passionate love of Liberty he learned as a boy.
